SEATTLE -- The Los Angeles Dodgers have selected the contract of left-handed pitcher Andrew Heaney and optioned right-handed pitcher Will Klein. To make room on the 40-man roster for Heaney, the Dodgers transferred right-handed pitcher Nick Frasso to the 60-day injured list.
Heaney, 34, signed a minor league contract with the Dodgers on September 1st and so far in his second stint with the Dodgers organization, has made four starts for the Triple-A Oklahoma City Comets, posting a 0.90 ERA with 13 strikeouts in 10.0 innings. His first stint with the Dodgers was back in 2022, where he recorded a 3.10 ERA and a 4-4 record with 110 strikeouts in 72.2 innings.
He made 26 appearances with the Pittsburgh Pirates to begin his 2025 season before his initial release on August 29. He went 5-10 with a 5.39 ERA.
The question of whether or not Heaney will make it on the Dodgers' postseason roster is yet to be seen, but in the meantime, he can act as an innings eater for their final series in Seattle to give the guaranteed pitchers who will make the postseason roster extra rest.
Klein, 25, pitched 1.2 scoreless innings last night and, in total, has made 14 appearances for the Dodgers this season, going 1-1 with a 2.35 ERA and 21 strikeouts in 15.1 innings.
The Dodgers acquired the services of Klein on June 2nd from the Seattle Mariners in exchange for left-handed pitcher Joe Jacques.
Frasso, 26, has spent the entirety of the 2025 season with Triple-A OKC, recording a 5.49 ERA across 77 innings pitched, while also recording a record of 6-1 in seven starts. It is unknown what injury Frasso has suffered at this time.
