De'arica Hamby is a quiet killer on the court taken in Los Angeles (Los Angeles Sparks)

LOS ANGELES -- When talking about greatness, many will say it's not about how well someone does something for a short period of time, but more about how consistent they are doing it for a long period of time. It's not about how bright the star shines, but more about how long it shines for, and in this case the star is shining bright for the Los Angeles Sparks Forward De'arica Hamby.

Stats/Efficiency

So far for the 2025 season, Hamby is averaging 17.9 ppg, 7.8 rpg, 3.3 ast, 1.5 steals while shooting 57% from the field. For the Sparks, she is second in scoring, second in rebounds, first in field goal percentage, and first in steals. She is top 10 in the WNBA in points, rebounds, steals, and FG%. Hamby is a player who a good percentage of her points is not only in the paint but at the three point line where she is shooting just over 30%. While that is not elite, it is still a threat especially for a 6'3 forward. This makes her versatile on the offensive end as a scorer, while being a pest defensively.

Consistency

Going back to the origin of the story, in anything maintaining a certain level of consistency is what separates the good from the great. The mindset to show up every day and not look to only do the big things, but the little things every day to be successful. Hamby has maintained a level of consistency of not only playing, but starting every single game for the Sparks this season. With the All-Star numbers being there mixed in with the level of attendance playing every single game it is kind of hard to miss a 6'3 forward doing what she is doing. While Hamby has been as productive and consistent as anyone in the league at her position it could be her quiet nature in why her recognition is getting is somewhat overshadowed. However, that doesn't seem to rattle her.

Mentality

Listening to Hamby's background she didn't have the carpet laid out for her to get to where she is at in the WNBA. A blue collar mindset where the success was earned not given despite the odds. That is the main reason why she goes out there and allows her game to do the talking. These are the players that put winning over individual accolades. While there is a calmness to Hamby it's also a fiery passion that lies beneath her where she wants to win at all costs.

Over the last month, the Sparks have gotten healthy, and have turned their season to have a chance to make the playoffs. With eight games left in the season lets see if Hamby can start getting her recognition league if the Sparks can make the playoffs.
