LOS ANGELES — Skip Bayless announced Friday he was leaving Fox Sports and FS1 after an eight-year run at the network.

"Today was my last show on Undisputed," Bayless tweeted seconds after signing off for the final time. "I'm leaving FS1. I've been planning to pursue other opportunities for several months. I had a great 8-year run with a lot of great people at FOX, but now I'm excited for what’s coming up. Stay tuned."

Bayless, who previously worked at ESPN and was a writer at the Los Angeles Times, Dallas Morning News and other outlets during a 50-year career in sports media, joined Fox Sports in 2016. He hosted "Undisputed" from the Fox Studio Lot in Los Angeles every weekday morning for eight years. He reportedly signed a four-year, $32 million extension with Fox Sports in early 2021.

Lil Wayne joined Bayless along with Paul Pierce and Keyshawn Johnson on the last episode of the show on Friday but no mention was made of it being Bayless' last day at FS1 until he tweeted the news.

Ratings for the show have steadily declined since Shannon Sharpe departed last year to team with Stephen A. Smith, Bayless' former colleague and debate partner at ESPN.
