Rams take over as Super Bowl favorites while Stafford leads MVP odds taken in Los Angeles (Los Angeles Rams)

Matthew Stafford #9 of the Los Angeles Rams warms up on the field prior to an NFL football game against the Detroit Lions at Ford Field on September 8, 2024 in Detroit, Michigan.

The Los Angeles Rams have emerged as the NFL’s most dangerous contender, and oddsmakers are finally treating them that way. After winning six straight games and leading the league in point differential, the Rams are now the Super Bowl favorites, according to updated futures released by BetOnline.ag.

Los Angeles is listed at 4/1 to win Super Bowl LX, moving ahead of teams such as Philadelphia (7/1) and a cluster of AFC contenders — Baltimore, Indianapolis, Kansas City and Seattle — all sitting at 10/1. Despite owning the NFL’s longest active winning streak at nine games, the New England Patriots sit further down at 14/1, tied with Denver, Green Bay and Detroit.

The updated board marks the fifth time this season that a new team has held the top spot, following the Eagles, Bills, Ravens and Chiefs. Meanwhile, a group of teams has now fallen completely out of contention — the Giants, Jets, Raiders and Titans are officially off the board.

As the Rams surge in the team futures, their quarterback continues to pull away in the league’s most prestigious individual race. Matthew Stafford remains the MVP favorite and has widened the gap, according to BetOnline.ag’s weekly awards update. Stafford is currently listed at 5/11 (-220), ahead of rookie standout Drake Maye at 2/1, making it effectively a two-player race entering the final stretch of the season.

The rest of the field sits well behind, with Jonathan Taylor, Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes all at 20/1. Several previous contenders — including Baker Mayfield, Justin Herbert and Lamar Jackson — are now no longer listed.

Other awards continue to shift as well: Myles Garrett is now a runaway favorite for Defensive Player of the Year at 1/10 (-1000), Mike Vrabel remains the Coach of the Year front-runner, and Tetairoa McMillan has taken over as the Offensive Rookie of the Year favorite.

But the headline belongs to Los Angeles.

A year removed from uncertainty about their direction, the Rams are now the hottest team in the NFC, the betting favorite to win the Lombardi Trophy, and led by the current MVP frontrunner. If the trajectory continues, what started as a surprising turnaround may soon become a defining championship run.
