Son Heung-min's first goal for LAFC proved the lone highlight as the Black and Gold closed their three-game road trip with a 1-1 draw against FC Dallas on Saturday evening at Toyota Stadium. The point was enough, however, to push Los Angeles past Seattle and into fourth place in the Western Conference.

"I had one of the best seats in the house," said LAFC defender Nkosi Tafari following the contest as he commented on Son's goal. "It was nice to see. I was incredibly happy for him...he's doing a phenomenal job and I love his energy."

It did not take long at all for the South Korean icon to find the net, drawing an early free-kick chance that did not go to waste. He rocketed one past the wall of Dallas defenders as it sailed into the back of the net past the leap of goalkeeper Michael Collodi.

While thousands of miles separated LAFC from BMO Stadium and the home fans on Saturday, there was no shortage of Son jerseys in the crowd, their presence rewarded as he marked the occasion with his highly anticipated first score for the club.

Less than 10 minutes later, the Dallas attack managed to quiet the buzz and retaliate with a big goal of their own. Forward Logan Farrington managed to catch Hugo Lloris' momentum leading him in the wrong direction, firing a right-footed shot through the left side of the net to equalize in the 13th.

An unfortunate injury put an end to the night for Igor Jesus, who was helped off the pitch in the first half after suffering a non-contact injury. He was replaced by Mathieu Choinière in the 25th minute. With no official word yet on his injury, the club will wait to discover the severity.

After the two sides went into the locker room at halftime even, neither was able to make the necessary push in the second half to break the tie. Lloris needed to make just one save in the match, while Collodi proved much busier for Dallas.

As LAFC looked for some last-minute magic deep in stoppage time, Collodi dived to make a clutch save on a solid strike from David Martinez. A final corner kick attempt was also turned away, with the final whistle blowing to cap off the second draw of the road trip.

"I don't remember them having too many chances or creating too much chaos, which is great," said Tafari. "We did not keep the clean sheet, so that's also a bit frustrating. Overall, I'm proud of how the guys performed today."

With the unbeaten streak at three, Los Angeles will head back home and prepare for a marquee battle. They will host the Western Conference-leading San Diego FC on Sunday, August 31, in a clash between two of the league's most prominent sides, with big implications in the standings on the line.

LAFC fell to San Diego in the two clubs' first matchup, suffering a 3-2 defeat back on March 29 at Snapdragon Stadium. Time for kickoff is yet to be determined.
