WOODLAND HILLS, Calif. — Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford was back on the practice field Monday, taking part in his first workout of the summer after missing all of training camp with a back injury.
The 37-year-old quarterback went through throwing drills and team work at the Rams’ facility in Woodland Hills, marking a significant step in his recovery and preparation for the upcoming season. Stafford had been sidelined since the start of camp with discomfort in his lower back, leaving backup Stetson Bennett to handle the majority of first-team reps.

"It's good to be able t ihave Matthew out there," Rams coach Sean McVay said after practice. "He did a good job today. I thought he looked good But I don't really have any updates. There was a lot of intended information. We're going to keep it a day and a week at a time. It was great to see him out there today. We'll see how this afternoon goes and tomorrow goes."
Stafford, entering his 16th NFL season and fourth with Los Angeles, has dealt with back issues throughout his career but had not missed an entire training camp before this year. The Rams have been cautious with his workload in hopes of having him fully healthy for the season opener in September.
The veteran quarterback appeared sharp in his return, completing passes in rhythm and taking on a full set of reps during team drills.
The Rams, who finished 10-7 last season, winning the NFC West and advancing to the divisional round, are counting on Stafford’s experience and leadership as they push for another postseason run.
