CARSON, Calif. -- LA Galaxy midfielder Riqui Puig took part in training Tuesday for the first time since suffering a torn ACL in last December’s Western Conference Final.

The Galaxy posted several photos and videos of Puig’s return to the practice pitch.

The 25-year-old Spanish playmaker can be seen participating in drills individually and running past his teammates seven months after undergoing surgery on his left knee.

Puig’s potential return comes as the Galaxy (2-6-13, 12 pts) attempt to climb back into playoff contention following a dismal opening half of 2025 without their midfield maestro.

Puig’s 2024 campaign was cut short when he suffered a torn ACL in the conference final against Seattle. Puig finished the match through the injury and provided the winning assist.

The Galaxy would then go on to lift the MLS Cup, defeating New York Red Bulls 2-1 in the Final.

Puig had a stellar season in 2024, contributing 37 goals and assists in 36 matches for LA.

The Galaxy have struggled to replace Puig’s creativity this season to say the least.

An eventual return could provide a boost to an attack that has scored just 22 times through 21 matches in MLS play.

While this marks a step forward in his recovery, Puig remains weeks away from game action. The typical recovery timeline for ACL injuries in soccer ranges from 8-12 months.

The Galaxy host DC United Saturday at Dignity Health Sports Park at 7:30 p.m. and on Apple TV’s MLS Season Pass.
