NEW YORK -- In back-to-back nights, the Dodgers' offense is non-existent as the Mets take the series finale and secure the series win altogether with a final of 3-1. Shohei Ohtani provided the only source of offense for Los Angeles with a solo home run, his 18th of the season, and Landon Knack, who took the bump for LA and provided a quality start, going six innings, allowing three runs, one earned, and striking out five Mets.

Mets' first baseman Pete Alonso would deliver the killing blow in the first after a throwing error committed by Max Muncy at third, one of four errors committed by the Dodgers' defense, allowed Juan Soto to reach first safely that set up Alonso to connect on a first-pitch curveball on the next pitch that was sent 406 feet to left center for a two-run homerun. Soto would ground out to second on a force out in the third that would wrap up the scoring bid for New York.

Although a lackluster performance on offense and defense for Los Angeles, there was plenty of news prior to first pitch. First and foremost, Ohtani completed a 22-pitch live bullpen session, his first time facing live batters since his ulnar collateral ligament surgery repair in September 2023, that clearly did not hinder his performance at the plate in Sunday night's contest. The front office was also busy, as the Dodgers signed right-handed reliever Chris Stratton, who was designated for assignment by the Kansas City Royals on May 18. In the corresponding moves, Bobby Miller was optioned back to Triple-A, and right-hander J.P. Feyereisen was designated for assignment to make room for Stratton on the 40-man roster.

The Dodgers are now 32-21, a game ahead of the San Francisco Giants for the NL West lead, as they take the trip down to Cleveland for a three-game interleague matchup against the Guardians beggining Monday. Yoshinobu Yamamoto will toe the rubber in the series opener, followed by Dustin May on Tuesday night, and Clayton Kershaw will finish it off for the series finale.
