Hernández was on the IL due to a missed 12 games with a right hamstring strain that he suffered on May 6 against the Miami Marlins. Just before his injury, the 32-year-old played 33 games, hitting .315 with nine homers and a Major League-leading 34 RBI. Hernández made one rehab start for the Dodgers' Single-A affiliate, Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, going 0-for-1 with a run scored.
In the corresponding move, the Dodgers have sent down outfielder James Outman back to Triple-A Oklahoma City. He was previously recalled from Triple-A to fill in Hernandez's spot on the roster. In his first stint of the 2025 season, Outman played nine games, hitting .125 with two homers and four RBI through 24 plate appearances.
The Dodgers' lineup is now at 100 percent heading into the end of a busy May with the addition of Hernández and the recent move of Tommy Edman, making his way back from his IL stint on Sunday.
