LOS ANGELES – The Dodgers hit four home runs and scored five runs in the eighth inning, defeating the Athletics 9-3 on Wednesday at Dodger Stadium in front of 50,071 fans.
In the eighth inning, with the Dodgers leading 4-3, right-hander Kirby Yates faced the tying run on third base with two outs. He struck out Shea Langeliers looking with a 94 mph fastball down the middle. As the Dodgers headed into the bottom half of the inning, they rallied following an intentional walk to Shohei Ohtani, which set the stage for Mookie Betts' two-run double. Although Betts had a rough start, failing to reach base in his first four at-bats, he came through when it mattered most.

Max Muncy hit an impressive three-run home run to right field, capping off a five-run inning. This is his second home run of the season.
The Dodgers hit a leadoff home run in every alternate inning of the game. It all started with Shohei Ohtani, who opened the scoring with his 13th home run of the season, marking the 15th leadoff home run of his career. Andy Pages followed suit by leading off the third inning with a blast to left field, which was his seventh home run of the season. In the fifth inning, on just the second pitch, Hyeseong Kim crushed a ball over the right field wall. This was significant as it was both his first career home run and his first start at Dodger Stadium. Kim connected with a fastball thrown by right-hander Gunnar Hoglund, who was starting for the Athletics.

Dave Roberts decided to pinch-hit for Kim, allowing Miguel Rojas to come up and hit a go-ahead double in the sixth inning, giving the Dodgers a 4-3 lead. Kim had previously tied the game at three with his home run.

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto (18) throws during the fifth inning against the Athletics at Dodger Stadium.
Yamamoto pitched six strong innings, allowing four hits and three earned runs while issuing two walks. It wasn't his sharpest night, but he sustained the performance by striking out six batters.
The Athletics scored all three of their runs with just two swings. Tyler Soderstrom hit a two-run home run in the third inning, and Miguel Andujar followed with an RBI double to left in the fourth inning.
The Athletics will start right-hander Osvaldo Bido (2-3, 4.75 ERA) in the series finale on Thursday. Meanwhile, Dave Roberts has decided to utilize a bullpen game as they prepare to host the Los Angeles Angels starting on Friday.
