Miami Marlins shortstop Xavier Edwards (9) heads home to win the game against the Los Angeles Dodgers in the tenth inning after a base hit by Jess Snchez at loanDepot Park.

MIAMI — The Miami Marlins sneak off the Los Angeles Dodgers 5–4 in a thrilling 10-inning game at loanDepot Park on Tuesday night.

The game moved into extra innings after the ninth inning ended in a tie, with both teams scoring four runs. In the 10th inning, the Dodgers went down in order, leaving Shohei Ohtani stranded at second base, which allowed the Marlins to clinch the victory.

Dodgers' manager Dave Roberts brought in right-hander J.P. Feyereisen for the 10th inning, but he quickly loaded the bases. Jesús Sánchez then hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the 10th, scoring Xavier Edwards and securing the win for the Marlins.

The Dodgers struggled significantly, going 1-for-10 with runners in scoring position against the Marlins' pitching staff, while the Marlins' hitters performed notably well. Ohtani enjoyed a strong night, hitting home runs in back-to-back games, including a massive shot to the second deck in right field that marked his 10th home run of the season. Over the last five games of the road trip, he is batting 7-for-20.

Right-hander Tony Gonsolin had a solid outing, going five innings while allowing four hits and two earned runs. This was Gonsolin’s second start of the season; he threw 81 pitches and recorded eight strikeouts. He effectively utilized his pitches, striking out Conner Norby with a well-placed splitter during a crucial moment in the fourth inning when runners were on the corners. Gonsolin displayed poise throughout his time on the mound, keeping the game competitive.

The emergence of Andy Pages has been impressive this season. After a challenging start, Pages found his rhythm at the plate and was named the National League Co-Player of the Week in the last week of April. He posted a remarkable .650 batting average, slugged 1.250 with four home runs, six RBIs, and three doubles.

Despite holding a record of 24-12, the Dodgers are facing injury challenges early in the season. Teoscar Hernandez has been placed on the injured list due to a Grade 1 adductor strain. Manager Dave Roberts mentioned that while there is no set timetable for his return, it will likely take "weeks" before he is back in the lineup. With Hernandez sidelined, James Outman returns to the lineup today in Miami after previously being 0-for-3 with two strikeouts.

Roberts also indicated that it is "unlikely" Tommy Edman will return from the injured list when eligible this weekend, stating, "It's just not responding as quickly as we had hoped."

Additionally, the Dodgers recalled right-handed pitcher J.P. Feyereisen, who suffered a loss in extra innings, and designated right-handed pitcher Yoendrys Gómez for assignment.

The Dodgers will play their final game of the series on Wednesday with right-hander Landon Knack, who was called up on Tuesday. The Marlins will start right-hander Valente Bellozo.
