Anaheim Ducks forward Robby Fabbri underwent meniscus surgery on Friday and will be out an estimated six weeks, according to Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press.

Fabbri, who was traded to the Ducks from the Detroit Red Wings over the summer, was put on injured reserve on Tuesday.

Jansen Harkins, who is second in AHL scoring (five goals, 17 points), was called up from San Diego on Wednesday to fill the forward spot. However, with Mason McTavish currently day-to-day with an upper-body injury, the Ducks don’t have any healthy extra forwards. Sam Colangelo leads the Gulls with eight goals, and Nikita Nesterenko is next highest among current San Diego forwards with four goals and eight points.

Fabbri has been a hard-working forechecker for Anaheim and scored two goals in 14 games this season. His last goal scored against Minnesota on Nov. 8 was his 100th career goal.

Fabbri played his 400th career NHL game earlier this season.

“With all the injuries I’ve had, any milestone game-related or anything like that, it means a lot to me after everything I’ve been through,” Fabbri said ahead of that 400th game in Las Vegas on Oct. 13.

This is the fifth knee surgery in Fabbri’s career.

The 28-year-old had two ACL surgeries on his left knee with the St. Louis Blues. Fabbri first tore his ACL in February 2017, and while recovering from that surgery for the following season, he tore the same ligament in the same knee and missed the entire 2017-18 season.

In Detroit, Fabbri underwent another ACL surgery in March 2022, this time on his right knee. After missing the first 35 games of the next season in recovery, Fabbri ended that season with the Red Wings with a “clean-up” surgery on his left knee in March 2023.

Fabbri was Detroit’s 2023 nominee for the Bill Masterton Trophy, which is awarded to the player who best demonstrates perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey.

Fabbri was a first-round pick of the Blues in 2014. He has scored 100 goals, 102 assists in 412 career games.
