LAS VEGAS — In its brief seven-year history, Allegiant Stadium has racked up quite a list of events.
Of course, it starts with the Super Bowl. But the NCAA Men’s Final Four is going to be a a huge event when it is played in 2028. To that end, it was announced Monday that the first basketball games in the 65,000-seat home of the Las Vegas Raiders and UNLV football will be held a year from now on Nov. 12, 2027.
Four programs that have had a hand in NCAA basketball history — Duke, Indiana, Kansas and Arizona — will come to Las Vegas for the 2027 Hall of Fame Series doubleheader. Combined, the Blue Devils, Hoosiers, Jayhawks and Wildcats boast 15 national championships and have produced 35 Naismith Basketball Hall of Famers.
Arizona will meet Duke and Kansas will take on Indiana with both games being nationally televised on TNT Sports’ networks and platforms. Tickets are now on sale at HOFSeries2027.com. One ticket gets you in for both games and you can expect the four participating schools to travel well to Las Vegas.
For the NCAA and its men’s basketball committee, the Hall of Fame series is critical. It is a dress rehearsal if you will for the Final Four. Normally, a Final Four site hosts a Regional to work out any kinks and deal with any potential issues. But with Allegiant Stadium not hosting a Regional, the doubleheader in November will serve as a dry run which the committee will watch very closely in order to make sure there are no issues come 2028.
The basketball event adds to what is already an exciting calendar for 2027 at Allegiant. In January, the College Football Playoff championship game will be played on Monday, Jan. 25. Add the Raiders schedule, UNLV football, concerts, and other sporting events and Allegiant will be busy.
