Vegas Golden Knights F Mark Stone (61) celebrates with forward Tomas Hertl (48) after scoring a goal against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday January 8, 2026, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

One of the key sources for the Vegas Golden Knights turning things around and firing off four straight victories has been recognized by the NHL.

On Monday, the NHL announced that Golden Knights forward Tomas Hertl was named the First Star of the week ending Jan. 11.

Hertl, who was recently named to represent Czechia for the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games, lead the NHL with nine points in four games.

The recent string of impressive performances started with the 4-3 overtime win over the Winnipeg Jets on Jan. 6, when Hertl capped off the comeback effort with the game-winning goal in overtime.

Hertl would collect a pair of assists against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Jan. 8, including the primary assist on Mark Stone’s game-winning goal.

Despite being held off the scoresheet against the St. Louis Blues, Hertl would end the week with a career-best performance against the San Jose Sharks.

Against his former team, Hertl was an offensive force, recording a career-high five points against the Sharks. The performance also tied a Golden Knights record for the most points scored in a single game. Hertl would notch two goals and three assists in what was ultimately a blowout win for the Golden Knights.

So far this season, Hertl leads the Golden Knights with 18 goals, as well as currently placing fourth on the team with 21 assists and 39 points in 44 games played.
