LAS VEGAS -- Maxx Crosby already has a good idea how strict the NFL can be regarding its uniform policy.
Two weeks ago, he watched league officials intervene mid-game to enforce it.
Crosby was on the turf at Lincoln Financial Field, wearing custom pink Jordan 11s inscribed with his daughter's name, when he was issued an ultimatum to change his footwear or face ejection.
Now Crosby is back on social media and set to double down on that sentiment as he celebrates the holidays.
After suffering a dismal 2-13 record this season with the Las Vegas Raiders, the team's campaign is finally crumbling.
With Crosby also selected for his fifth consecutive Pro Bowl despite the team's struggles, is now the time for the star defensive end to force a change in the league's "traditionalist" regulations?
Decision to claim victory
Maxx Crosby has considered the consequences before, after officials approached him during the loss to Philadelphia earlier in December.
He took time to finish the drive — punctuated by a sack on Jalen Hurts — before complying with the equipment manager's order to swap for white cleats.
A week later, on his podcast, Crosby confirmed he would have happily paid the fine.
"The NFL was crying," said the Raiders star on The Rush. He was willing to take the fine to represent his daughter, Ella Rose Crosby.
But the Raiders have since looked a shadow of their former selves, and the "CleatGate" drama became a defining moment of the 2025 season.
Crosby's stance is one of the question marks hanging over the league's strict Rule 5, Section 4.
Why Maxx Crosby opted for a 'Pink Christmas'?
The Christmas Day posts by Crosby and his wife, Rachel, serve as a heartwarming follow-up to the sideline controversy.
A massive pink Christmas tree for his three-year-old daughter, Ella Rose, dominated the living room, serving as a "bright spot" in a challenging year.
Ella was seen wearing a festive Santa Claus sweater, a visual cue that the "Girl Dad" persona remains a priority over league politics. The text reads:
“She wanted her own pink tree so we got her right.”

Even if the Raiders win their Week 17 matchup against the Giants on Sunday, it will still be a forgettable season for the franchise.
However, the holiday posts suggest Crosby has found a victory elsewhere.
Meeting with Goodell & opportunities for reform
Crosby has already been preparing for the off-season. Reports suggest he plans to meet with Commissioner Roger Goodell to discuss policy reforms regarding personal expression.
While he recently returned to practice following a knee issue, his focus seems partially shifted toward this growing rift between modern players and the rulebook.
If he succeeds in altering the footwear policy, there will be plenty of other athletes, like Odell Beckham Jr. and Jalen Hurts, waiting to follow his lead.
'The air of a man not backing down'
In his podcast, Maxx Crosby characterized the league's intervention as excessive. Statistically, he remains elite, currently sitting as the league's #2 leader in Tackles for Loss.
There has been a slight uptick in his public defiance this season.
Crosby knows the Raiders are in transition, but he seemingly has the air of a man who is not backing down.
He now has the chance to bid a festive farewell to a difficult 2025 season, with his principles — and his daughter's favorite color — firmly intact.
