LOS ANGELES -- Cameron Brink made her presence known before the ball even tipped Sunday night. The Sparks center strolled through the tunnel in a sharp, confident fit, the kind of style she says fuels her game.
“Fashion is huge for my confidence,” Brink said pregame. “I grew up with a mom who’s super stylish, so it’s always been a big passion of mine. I think it’s really awesome we get to showcase our personalities in the tunnel.”
Once the game started, her fashion sense gave way to fierce production. With the Sparks trailing 24-8 early against the Seattle Storm, Brink checked in and quickly turned the energy around. In just 10 minutes of action, she poured in a season-high 14 points, five rebounds, and added two steals, an assist, and a block.
“She’s still getting back to fully cleared but impactful minutes,” said Coach Lynne Roberts. “What a luxury to bring in somebody like Cam Brink.”
Her teammates noticed the spark, too. “We’re young, we’re competitive, we’re hungry,” said Kelsey Plum. “Shout out Cameron Brink, to come in and score 14 points in 10 minutes against someone that’s just as big as you? That’s absurd.”
For Brink, the night was another step in her adjustment to the on court lifestyle. “It’s been good, it’s been stressful. I have the best teammates, the best coaches, the training staff has been super supportive,” she said. “But yeah, I’m just adjusting every day. I’m still in that rookie phase.”
She’s also still recovering from injury, but her mindset is locked in. “It’s all about the little wins and leaning on your people,” Brink said.
On a night where the Sparks rallied from 16 down and sealed a 94-91 win with a late defensive stop, those “little wins” Brink talked about ended up being game-changing ones.
