LOS ANGELES -- Before they start their six-game homestand, the Dodgers made a move that affects their bullpen as they claimed Yoendrys Gómez from the New York Yankees off waivers.

Gómez, 25, pitched in six games for the Yankees before getting designated for assignment on Tuesday. He went 1-1 with a 2.70 ERA and five strikeouts in 10.0 innings. In his career, Gómez has a 3.09 earned run average in 23 1/3 innings.

Currently, the Dodgers have 12 pitchers on the injured list, some of whom have suffered major surgeries and are not expected to return in 2025. In the meantime, Los Angeles is managing their pitchers' flexibility and durability while awaiting the return of some players, but there is some good news regarding the Cy Young winner, Blake Snell, who was shut down from throwing on Wednesday.

Manager Dave Roberts said Blake Snell had an MRI on his shoulder yesterday, and there were no new findings. His return to the mound is still TBD, and Roberts said the Dodgers feel they’ve avoided the worst possible outcome.

“We dodged a bullet,” Roberts said.
