WASHINGTON, D.C. – The San Diego Clippers (5-4) fell to the Capital City Go-Go (5-3) 110-109 at the Entertainment and Sports Arena.

Trentyn Flowers finished with 28 points for the Clippers, he did his best to keep them in the game. After trailing 39-25 at the end of the first quarter, they were able to respond with a 22-8 run of their own, to take the lead at halftime, 57-56

San Diego was short handed in the matchup, without key player Cam Christie. All of the Clippers two-way players were not active either.

Continuing into the third quarter, San Diego found their rhythm and created some separation from the Go-Go.

They lead by as much as 14, but unfortunately the defense fell apart, and late in the fourth quarter, Capital City made a full comeback to take the win, off a layup by Jaylen Nowell. He finished with 31 points and 9 rebounds for his team.

As a whole, San Diego shot 42% from the field and 35% from beyond the arc. The latter is important because there is an upward trend in the team’s 3 point shooting, something to continue monitoring throughout the season.

San Diego also allowed Capital City to shoot over 51% from the field (on 26 less shot attempts than the Clippers) but did hold them to just under 35% on 3 pointers.

It was a close and winnable game, so the Clippers will have time to reflect on that before their next matchup. They’ll have five days off, where it’s safe to say practice will be held, then they play at home on Wednesday, Jan. 22 against the Santa Cruz Warriors. The game will be played at Frontwave Arena and tip-off will be at 7 p.m. P.T.
