UNLV quarterback Matthew Sluka abruptly announced Tuesday that he was transferring from the Rebels football team.

Sluka's decision was announced on on X.com and came despite UNLV's 3-0 start and its first national ranking.

The Holy Cross transfer has been dominant with the Rebels as a dual-threat QB. He leads the team in passing yards (318) and has nearly double the carries (39) and rushing yards (253) as any other rusher.

The circumstances around the decision are unclear, but it appears NIL played a factor.

With the Rebels hosting Fresno State on Saturday in their first Mountain West game of the season, they’ll turn to Hajj-Malik Williams, who transferred from Campbell University.
