LA Galaxy signed former Borussia Dortmund star Marco Reus, the MLS team announced Thursday.
Reus’ contract with the Galaxy is through the end of the 2026 season, according to the club.
“For Marco, a two-time Bundesliga Footballer of the Year, to join the Galaxy after playing his entire career in Germany is a testament to the project we are continuing to build at the club,” Galaxy general manager Will Kuntz said in a statement.

The German midfielder made 429 appearances for Dortmund since 2012, scoring nine goals in 42 total appearances last season.
The Galaxy acquired the Discovery Priority to Reus from Charlotte FC in exchange for $400,000 in General Allocation Money. He will occupy an International Roster Slot and be added to the Galaxy roster pending receipt of his Visa and International Transfer Certificate (ITC).

The Galaxy's attack will be bolstered with the addition of a versatile, veteran midfielder alongside Dejan Joveljic and Designated Players Gabriel Pec, Riqui Puig and Joseph Paintsil, who have combined for 38 goals in 2024.
“We are excited to welcome Marco to the team,” Galaxy coach Greg Vanney said. “He is a proven winner and leader whose talent and vision for the game will integrate seamlessly into the group as we prepare for the restart of the league and the run into the playoffs.”
The 35-year old’s list of titles at the club level includes two German Cup championships and two Supercup trophies. On the international stage, Reus has earned 48 caps for Germany, netted 15 goals and appeared in two FIFA World Cups.

The ex-Dortmund captain made his final appearance for the German giants in the UEFA Champions League final, a 2-0 loss to Real Madrid, in June.
The Bundesliga legend joins a growing list of European stars that have joined MLS, more specifically the Galaxy.
Inter Miami owner David Beckham’s landmark signing from Real Madrid in 2007 paved the way for the Galaxy to become a premier destination for international stars.
Since Beckham’s arrival, the club has attracted a host of high-profile players from abroad, including Robbie Keane, Steven Gerrard, and Zlatan Ibrahimović.

Reus left Dortmund without winning the Bundesliga title or the Champions League, but Reus’ first opportunity to win a league title could come in LA.
The Galaxy, looking for the club’s first MLS Cup since 2014, sit atop the Western Conference table with 49 points, two points ahead of crosstown rivals LAFC, who also made a major signing this summer.
LAFC reinforced its attack with the arrival of Olivier Giroud earlier this month. The Sept. 14 match of El Tráfico could see two of LA’s newest stars go toe-to-toe for the first time.
The Galaxy, following their exit in the round of 32 of the Leagues Cup, will return to MLS action on Aug. 24 at Dignity Health Sports Park against Atlanta United FC.
