LOS ANGELES — The San Francisco Giants ended the Dodgers' five-game winning streak behind a comeback performance by starter Robbie Ray in a 8-3 victory on Wednesday night at Dodger Stadium.
Glasnow's return wasn't the best, but it was enough to keep the Dodgers in the game. He pitched five innings, allowed four hits and two runs, throwing 91 pitches. While he was able to compete, he struggled with his control, walking four batters.
Matt Chapman hit a solo home run off Glasnow in the fourth inning, sending it deep to center field for the Giants' first run of the game.

Before the all-star break, the Dodgers discovered Glasnow had developed tightness in his back and missed his last start of the first half. His last game was July 5, when he earned the win despite giving up five runs.
The most impressive performance of the night came from Ray, who pitched five innings without allowing a hit. Ray (1-0) was making his first start since undergoing Tommy John surgery 14 months ago.
Ray struck out eight batters, walked two and allowed a run on a bases-loaded walk to Andy Pages in the first inning. He threw 86 pitches, shutting down the Dodgers throughout the night.

Giants manager Bob Melvin pulled Ray after five innings while he had a no-hitter. The Dodgers' first hit of the night occurred in the seventh when Chris Taylor doubled to center.
Taylor immediately left the game after arriving at second base because he seemed to have pulled his left groin as he turned on first base. He will have an MRI on Thursday morning and James Outman is expected to be called up from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

It got ugly in the top of the eighth as Yohan Alvarez got hit around, allowing five runs and three walks in two-thirds of an inning.
Mike Yastrzemski began with a single to right field, allowing Chapman to score. Then, Patrick Bailey drove home Conforto with a pinch-hit single to right. Heliot Ramos and Matt Chapman each followed with an RBI single, extending the Giants' lead.
The Dodgers' Alvarez struggled to maintain his performance, causing his ERA to rise to 5.98 for the season. As the team prepares to activate Clayton Kershaw, they need to make a roster move in the upcoming hours. It wouldn't be surprising if Alvarez was the one affected.
Cavan Biggio helped LA score another run in the ninth by grounding into a fielder's choice to first and allowing Pages to score.
The Dodgers' top of the lineup was silent as Shohei Ohtani struck out in his last three at-bats, making it his seventh strikeout of the series. Ohtani is batting .310 with 30 home runs and 73 runs batted in this season.

Nick Ahmed, who was signed by the Dodgers on Wednesday morning after being released by the Giants, suited up and was in the lineup after learning Miguel Rojas was placed on the injured list.
After the All-Star break, Rojas experienced persistent discomfort in his right forearm. Despite resting for a few days, the issue did not improve and an MRI revealed a flexor strain.
The final game of a four-game series at 12:10 p.m. Thursday will have Kershaw make his season debut after undergoing offseason shoulder surgery. Logan Webb (7-8, 3.59 ERA) will pitch for the fourth time against the Dodgers this season.
