Dakayla Hawkins

Dakayla Hawkins is a staff writer at The Sporting Tribune. She is a young passionate sports journalist that brings fresh ideas to the table for new and different ways to cover sports. She graduated from Loyola Marymount University with a degree in journalism. During her time in school she got as many reps as she could covering LMU athletics. While in her last year in school, she earned a spot as a ESPN+ sideline reporter for baseball and softball. In the ESPN+ role, she would conduct research on each team prior to the game, then interview coaches and players. After graduating, Dakayla then went onto a long term internship with KABC 7 in Los Angeles. In this full-time position she gained more reps and grew her knowledge and abilities with on camera reporting. Dakayla has gained extensive experience covering all Los Angeles sports, and has a deep understanding of the culture, history, and energy around Los Angeles sports.
