Takeaways from Clippers' 108-106 loss to Timberwolves
MINNEAPOLIS — The Clippers squander their small lead late as the Minnesota Timberwolves win 108-106 on Monday night. Los Angeles was swept by Minnesota in their season series. The Clippers are now 20-16 after the loss and will next travel to Denver for a matchup with the Nuggets on Wednesday night.
Here are some takeaways from the Clippers loss to the Timberwolves:
Edwards closes the door on a Clippers win
Anthony Edwards was the star of stars on the this night and that wasn’t a good thing for the Clippers.
He scored 37 points with 28 points coming in the second half. This allowed the Timberwolves to come back from 19-point first-half deficit.
With Minnesota down by one, Edwards knocked down a step-back 3 with 1:12 to play. Looking to tie the game, Ivica Zubac missed a layup for Los Angeles and Edwards drained another 3 with 34.4 seconds left for a 106-101 lead.
Edwards was too much to handle for the Clippers late and this led to a tough road loss for Los Angeles after playing so well most of the game.
Kawhi struggles in his second game back
Kawhi Leonard was playing in his second game since missing the team’s first 34 while recovering from a right knee injury.
He finished with eight points on 3-of-11 shooting. He had two assists and two rebounds in 20 minutes.
You saw the rust form Leonard tonight and him & the team adjusting to him returning.
Leonard will have his struggles here and there so it’s all about him progressing while staying healthy game in & game out.
Zubac & Gobert duels it out
It’s not often you see two talented bugs face-off in today’s NBA but we were treated to it tonight.
Ivica Zubac and Rudy Gobert had a nice battle on Monday night.
Zubac got the best of Gobert tonight even in a loss. Zubac scored 17 points grabbing 16 rebounds and blocking six shots.
Gobert finished with 8 points and 18 rebounds for Minnesota.
It was nice to see the 90s style big man battle between the bigs with Zubac getting the upper hand.
