INGLEWOOD, Calif. — One of the biggest bands in rock music history will take center stage at SoFi Stadium when the Los Angeles Rams host the Green Bay Packers in the NFL's first-ever Thanksgiving Eve game.

Netflix announced Tuesday that U2 will headline the halftime show on Wednesday, Nov. 25, bringing the legendary Irish rock band to Inglewood for a special performance celebrating its 50th anniversary. The game will kick off at 5 p.m. PT and stream live globally on Netflix.

The performance will mark a milestone for U2, which formed in Dublin in 1976 and has spent the past five decades becoming one of the most successful touring acts in music history. The halftime show will feature special guests, although Netflix has not yet announced who will join the band on stage.

For the Rams, the Thanksgiving Eve matchup represents another opportunity to showcase SoFi Stadium to a worldwide audience, combining a marquee NFL game with a major entertainment event during the holiday season.

The performance will also mark U2's return to an NFL halftime stage nearly 25 years after one of the most memorable shows in Super Bowl history.

U2 headlined the halftime show at Super Bowl XXXVI in February 2002, when the Rams faced the New England Patriots at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans. The band's emotional performance, which included a tribute to the victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, remains one of the most celebrated halftime shows in NFL history.

Now, nearly a quarter-century later, U2 will perform during another Rams game, this time at the team's home stadium in Southern California.

"There's a reason U2 has headlined stadiums for decades: they don't just perform, they deliver iconic moments audiences remember forever," said Ted Sarandos, co-CEO of Netflix. "We're thrilled that they'll bring that same magic to the NFL stage on Netflix. It's going to be an unforgettable night for football fans and Netflix members worldwide."

The halftime show will be produced by Jesse Collins Entertainment, which has worked on several major live entertainment productions.

The Thanksgiving Eve game is part of Netflix's expanding partnership with the NFL as the streaming service continues to establish itself as a major destination for live sports.

Netflix began its 2026 NFL schedule in September with the league's first regular-season game in Australia, featuring the Rams and San Francisco 49ers at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. That historic matchup drew more than 100,000 fans and marked another significant step in the NFL's international expansion.

The Rams will now participate in another league first when they host the Packers the night before Thanksgiving.

The game also continues Netflix's tradition of featuring major musical performances during its NFL broadcasts.

In 2024, Beyoncé headlined the halftime show during the Baltimore Ravens' Christmas Day game against the Houston Texans. The performance, known as the "Beyoncé Bowl," received four Emmy nominations and became a major cultural event beyond football.

Last Christmas, Snoop Dogg headlined "Snoop's Holiday Halftime Party" during the Detroit Lions' matchup against the Minnesota Vikings. That broadcast became the most-streamed NFL regular-season game in U.S. history, according to Netflix.

With U2 celebrating its 50th anniversary, Netflix is looking to deliver another memorable halftime production while introducing a new holiday tradition to the NFL calendar.

Following the Rams-Packers game, Netflix will broadcast a Christmas Day doubleheader featuring the Packers against the Chicago Bears at 10 a.m. PT, followed by the Buffalo Bills against the Denver Broncos at 1:30 p.m. PT.

The streaming service will also carry a Week 18 matchup on Jan. 9 and stream NFL Honors globally during Super Bowl week.

Netflix's NFL broadcasts will be available in more than 200 countries, with coverage offered in English, French, Spanish, Portuguese and German. Games will also air on NBC-owned stations and affiliates in the participating teams' local markets, while U.S. viewers will have access on mobile and tablet devices through NFL+.

NBC Sports will produce the game broadcasts, including pregame and postgame coverage, with EverWonder Studio serving as an executive producer for Netflix.

For fans attending the Thanksgiving Eve game at SoFi Stadium, the matchup will offer more than an opportunity to watch two of the NFL's most recognizable franchises.

It will also provide a chance to see one of the world's most iconic rock bands celebrate 50 years of music from the 50-yard line of one of the NFL's premier stadiums.
