#77 PG Luka Doncic of the Los Angeles Lakers surveys the floor during an NBA game against the New Orleans Pelicans on November 30, 2025 in Los Angeles, CA.

March urgency is here. As the regular seasons wind down in the NBA and NHL, Tuesday’s slate carries added weight. Playoff races are tightening, rotations are shortening and desperation is starting to show in the numbers. For bettors, this is the time of year when motivation, fatigue and situational spots can make an impact just as much as talent — and that’s where the edge makes its appearance. First Pick: Lakers -8.5

Rundown: The New Orleans Pelicans continue their Los Angeles swing as they head to Crypto.com Arena for a Tuesday night clash with Luka Doncic and the Los Angeles Lakers.

New Orleans enters the matchup on the heels of a 20-point loss to the Clippers, snapping a four-game winning streak that marked the Pelicans’ most encouraging stretch of an otherwise difficult season. Trey Murphy III continues to be the best offensive playmaker, averaging 22.0 points per game in 53 games this season. Zion Williamson is a game-time decision with an ankle injury that kept him out of the loss against the Clippers.

Los Angeles comes into play fresh off back-to-back dominant victories over Golden State and Sacramento and currently sit two games above the Phoenix Suns in the Pacific Division. Doncic's elite offensive output has shined all season, leading the NBA in points per game (32.5) and ranking third in assists per contest (8.6).

With New Orleans inability to produce on the road and Los Angeles looking to climb the standings in the West, look for the Lakers to control the tempo and roll to a home victory.

Second Pick: Anaheim Ducks Moneyline

Rundown: The Colorado Avalanche (40-10-9) bring the best record in the NHL into the confines of Orange County as they meet the red hot Anaheim Ducks (33-23-3) Tuesday at Honda Center.

Anaheim carries a five-game winning streak into the matchup, including three one-goal wins since returning from the Olympic break. The Ducks sit just one point back of the division-leading Vegas Golden Knights in the Pacific Division and are the only team in the division with more wins than losses. Cutter Gauthier has been a force in the offensive zone, leading Anaheim in goals with 28 goals this season.

Colorado continues its Southern California back-to-back after defeating the Los Angeles Kings 4-2 Monday night. This matchup features offensive firepower on both sides, with Colorado entering the contest leading the NHL in goals per game (3.80) and Anaheim scoring 14 goals in the last three games. With a goal or an assist Tuesday, Nathan MacKinnon would record his 100th point of the season.

With Colorado in the midst of a back-to-back and Anaheim clicking on all cylinders, look for the Ducks to grab an upset win and glide to a sixth consecutive win.
