The LA Galaxy are moving on from veteran forward Christian Ramirez.
The club announced Saturday that it has waived the 34-year-old and exercised a buyout of his contract, bringing an end to his one-year tenure with the five-time MLS Cup champions.

Ramirez, a Southern California native, arrived in Los Angeles in last February via a trade with the Columbus Crew. In his lone season with the Galaxy, he made 33 appearances across all competitions, contributing five goals and one assist.
Despite the modest season totals, the forward provided a spark for the Galaxy early in March 2025 after a torrid scoring stretch in which he found the net in four consecutive games, including a Concacaf Champions Cup match against C.S. Herediano followed by MLS regular-season contests versus the Portland Timbers, Minnesota United, and Orlando City.
The transaction is a procedural move to clear both a roster spot and salary cap space. By utilizing a buyout, the Galaxy will remove Ramirez’s cap hit from the books for the 2026 season.
The decision comes with a degree of suddenness, as Ramirez started and logged 58 minutes for the Galaxy in a midweek match against San Miguelito and the Galaxy will host New York City FC for the season opener in less than 24 hours.
