LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles Rams have solidified their long-term leadership core by giving head coach Sean McVay and general manager Les Snead multi-year contract extensions, the team announced Monday, keeping the duo together as they enter their 10th season of collaboration.

The extensions come after another strong season in which the Rams finished 12-5 and advanced to the NFC Championship Game, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to the coach–general manager partnership that has defined one of the NFL’s most successful stretches over the past decade.

“It means a lot,” McVay said in a videoconference with reporters after the announcement, expressing gratitude for the stability and support he has felt within the organization. “I’ve said it before and I think as you continue to accumulate experience, you realize how fortunate I feel to work for such great ownership with Mr. Kroenke and Josh and the family in general. Their whole family’s been incredible. I felt the most supported in the moments that you need it the most. It’s been unconditional and it’s been consistent.”

McVay emphasized the value of continuity alongside Snead and the Rams’ leadership group, including team president Kevin Demoff and chief operating officer Tony Pastoors.

“Our relationship is only built going over into year 10,” McVay said. “I value that more than I think ever before, to be able to lead alongside Les and really our organization. It’s special. At the end of the day, everything goes back to people. They make this place special.”

Since McVay’s hiring before the 2017 season, the Rams have been among the league’s most consistent contenders. The team has made multiple playoff appearances during his tenure and captured a Super Bowl title following the 2021 season. Snead, who has been the Rams’ general manager since 2012, has been instrumental in shaping the aggressive, star-driven roster-building philosophy that helped deliver that championship.

With both McVay and Snead secured for the foreseeable future, attention now shifts to key offseason decisions, including the future of veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford. McVay said he would welcome Stafford back if that is the quarterback’s decision but stressed that the organization is giving him space to determine his plans.

“I think that if that’s something that he wants to do, the answer is absolutely yes,” McVay said. “Our hope is that he does, but with respect to his timetable, whenever he feels ready to make that announcement, we’ll let him do that.”

McVay also outlined upcoming coaching staff moves. The Rams are searching for a new offensive coordinator following the departure of Mike LaFleur, and recently hired Bubba Ventrone as special teams coordinator. McVay described Ventrone as an energetic, detail-oriented coach whose background and leadership style align with the culture the Rams want to maintain.

For McVay, the extensions are about more than football.

“This is where we’ve raised our family,” he said. “So much of my life has gone on here and I’m just really grateful. I’m grateful for our players and our coaches because these opportunities don’t present themselves if you’re not around great people. I’m excited to be able to continue to build with them moving forward.”
