PORTLAND — The Lakers will be without their backcourt anchors in Monday night's road matchup against the Trail Blazers, as Los Angeles announced that Luka Dončić (leg management) and Austin Reaves (groin) will both sit out in Portland.

The timing comes on the second night of a back-to-back following Sunday’s 130–120 win over the Miami Heat—a game in which the duo combined for 55 points and 21 assists, driving L.A. to its fifth win in the past six games.
Head coach JJ Redick will now turn to a deeper rotation in Portland, with Rui Hachimura and Jake LaRavia, who’s coming off a 25-point night on 10-of-13 shooting, likely seeing expanded roles in the starting unit.
The Lakers will also continue to be without LeBron James (right-side sciatica), leaving the team down its three top playmakers for the first time this season.
Portland, meanwhile, enters at 4–2 behind strong starts from Deni Avdija (22.7 ppg), Jerami Grant (20.7 ppg) and Jrue Holiday (18.2 ppg, 8.7 apg), coming off a two-day rest from their two-point win over the Nuggets on Friday.
With top ballhandlers Luka Dončić, Austin Reaves, and backup guard Gabe Vincent all sidelined, the Lakers face a major test against a Portland team that ranks fifth in defensive rating and leads the league in steals (12 per game).
It’s an especially tough matchup for a short-handed Lakers group that’s tied with Golden State for the fourth-most turnovers in the NBA at 17.1 per game.
Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at the Moda Center as both teams look to move their win streaks to four games.
