Angels Series Preview vs. Kansas City Royals: Where to watch, Game details, Injury Report & Odds taken in Anaheim (Los Angeles Angels)

Robert Sloter - The Sporting Tribune

Mike Trout #27 of the Los Angeles Angels hits a home run against the Seattle Mariners at T-Mobile Park on September 11, 2025 in Seattle, Washington.

Heading into their final homestand of the 2025 season, the Los Angeles Angels will take on the Kansas City Royals starting Tuesday, Sep. 22, opening a three-game set.

Below, you can find the team previews, including where to watch, game details, injury reports, and odds.

TEAM PREVIEWS:

Angels: Los Angeles (70-86) is on the verge of finishing in 5th in the AL West for the second consecutive season. The Angels head into the series three games behind the Athletics in fourth place.

The Angels are fresh off a lengthy 10-game road trip, where they went 1-9 in that span. In the final series of the trip against the Colorado Rockies, the Angels lost two of three and scored just 10 runs over the course of the series in a hitter-friendly Coors Field.

Against the Royals, the Angels will send out Sam Aldegheri in the series opener on Tuesday. Aldegheri was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake on Thursday as the corresponding move to José Soriano’s injury. Tuesday will mark his third outing of the season, his last coming on July 8th against the Texas Rangers.

The Angels have yet to announce their starters for games two and three of the series. Presumably, Yusei Kikuchi would be lined up to start Wednesday and Mitch Farris would pitch the series finale Thursday.

Farris had looked sharp for the Angels up until his start against the Rockies, where he allowed six earned runs in 4.1 innings of work. On the other hand, Kikuchi last pitched well against a hot Milwaukee Brewers team, just narrowly missing the criteria for a quality start.

Royals: Kansas City (78-78) is on their way out of the playoff picture entirely. The Royals currently sit six games back of the final wild card spot – with six games to go in the regular season.

In need of a loud month, the Royals had a shaky month of September, going 11-14 and straying further from a wild card spot. Their division foe, the Cleveland Guardians, not only caught up the Royals in the standings, but are trailing the Detroit Tigers in first place by just one game.

The Royals are coming off a series win against the American League’s best, the Toronto Blue Jays. In Friday’s series opener, Kansas City put up 20 runs.

Barring an absolute miracle, the Royals are on their way out of contention and will attempt to end their season on a high note. The Royals have a chance to have back-to-back winning seasons for the first time since 2014-15, as the team currently sits at .500.
