Angels Series Preview at Houston Astros: Where to watch, Game details, Injury Report & Odds taken in Houston (Los Angeles Angels)

Ric Tapia - The Sporting Tribune

Zach Neto #9 of the Los Angeles Angels celebrates in the dugout during the game against the Chicago Cubs at Angel Stadium of Anaheim on August 24, 2025 in Anaheim, California.

On the cusp of another losing month, the Los Angeles Angels will head south of Texas to face the Houston Astros for a four-game weekend set.

The Angels are looking to shake off a series loss to the Texas Rangers, where the team allowed 20 runs in the rubber match on Wednesday.

Below, you can find the team previews, including where to watch, game details, injury reports, and odds.

TEAM PREVIEWS

Angels: Los Angeles (62-71) has progressively trended downwards in the month of August. After shocking the baseball world in sweeping the Los Angeles Dodgers over two weeks ago, the Angels have lost each of their last four series. The sweep marks their only series win in August.

As the team continues to struggle, the team’s competitive window looks incredibly bleak as September approaches next week. At the moment, the Angels are tied with the Athletics for last in the AL West, now sitting 9.5 games back of a Wild Card spot.

So far this season, the Angels have gone 2-4 against the Astros. Houston has always proved a struggle for them, as the Angels have gone 10-22 against them since 2023.

On Wednesday, starter Jack Kochanowicz allowed 10 earned runs over 3.1 innings against the Rangers. He stepped into the rotation after Victor Mederos suffered an injury, shortening the team’s trust in their No. 5 starter.

Per usual, the team showed some promise offensively despite the series loss. The Angels looked strong in handing Jacob deGrom the loss in Monday’s series opener, just before faltering to the Rangers in the final two games.

Astros: Houston (74-60) currently sits in their usual seat in the AL West – first place. However, the Seattle Mariners have remained in their shadows in sitting just two games back of first, but the Astros continue to prevail.

On the offhand, the Astros are coming off back-to-back series wins. Houston has bounced back after getting swept by the Detroit Tigers, where the team scored a measly two runs in the three-game set.

Since then, the Astros have gone 5-2. A key contributor to that has been Christian Walker, who is slowly coming back to form and living up to the contract he signed over the offseason. Over those last seven games, Walker has hit .310 with five home runs.

Houston is using a six-man rotation in the midst of playing 13 straight games. Manager Joe Espada recently said the team is deciding to move Lance McCullers Jr. to the bullpen, but has not ruled out a return to the rotation to start the series finale against the Angels on Monday.
