Padres acquire Ryan O'Hearn, Ramón Laureano from Orioles for six prospects taken in San Diego (San Diego Padres)

SAN DIEGO -- The San Diego Padres  continued to make a splash on trade deadline day as according to Robert Murray and Jeff Passan, the Padres will acquire first baseman Ryan O'Hearn and outfielder Ramón Laureano from the Baltimore Orioles.

According to Dennis Lin, left-hander Boston Bateman (ranked No. 4 in the Padres system according to MLB Pipeline at time of the deal) as well as righty reliever Tyson Neighbors (ranked as No. 12 San Diego prospect according to MLB Pipeline when dealt) and infielder Brandon Butterworth are among the prospects that will be headed to Baltimore.

The final package includes six minor league prospects, with San Diego's MLB Pipeline-ranked No. 6 short stop/second baseman Cobb Hightower and No. 29 first baseman/outfielder Victor Figueroa also included per Jon Morosi:

O'Hearn is coming off his first selection to the All Star Game and has slashed .283/.374/.463 with 15 doubles, 13 home runs and 43 RBIs. Before the deal, the left-handed batter's .374 on base percentage ranked eighth in the AL.

The 32-year-old is a pending free agent, and has been a better than 2.0 WAR producer over the past two seasons.

The righty bat Laureano has slashed .290/.355/.529 with 17 doubles, 15 home runs and 46 RBIs and posted a 2.9 WAR. He's seen 49 of his 72 games in right field with the Orioles and 29 in left field, and ranks second in the AL with seven outfield assists.

Laureano has a $6.5 million club option for next season.

Bateman was a second round pick by the Padres in 2024, and has started 15 games for the single-A Lake Elsinore Storm with a 5-5 record and 4.08 ERA in 68 1/3 innings. He his strikeout-to-walk ratio is 75/25 with a 1.32 WHIP and opponents hitting .249 against him. the 6-foot-8, 240 pound 19-year-old is projected to reach the Majors in 2028 according to MLB Pipeline.
