INGLEWOOD, Calif.– A simmering sense of happiness filled the Intuit Dome on Monday, July 28th, as Chris Paul was officially reintroduced as a Los Angeles Clipper. The veteran point guard, who signed a one-year, $3.6 million contract last week, addressed the media and a large contingent of excited fans, clearly emotional about his return to the franchise where he made his mark from 2011 to 2017.

Paul, who will embrace a pivotal reserve role behind James Harden, alongside new additions Bradley Beal, John Collins, and Brook Lopez, emphasized the deeply personal nature of his decision. He recounted visiting the Intuit Dome last summer, already envisioning this reunion. "It's kind of wild, kind of crazy, still kind of speechless," Paul shared, looking up at his name and No. 3 jersey displayed on the massive halo board. He added, "This is one of those things I kind of manifested for a long time, sort of tried to speak it into existence, but you just never know if it's really going to happen."

Family was a recurring theme in Paul's press conference, with his wife and children seated in the front row next to the media. Having continued to reside in Los Angeles after his initial departure, the opportunity to be home full-time clearly resonated with him. Paul chuckled, "To tell you the truth, my wife and my kids probably tired of me already. Ever since I got the news, every time we're home, I'm just jumping around, talking about 'I'm home, I'm home!'"

Reflecting on his previous stint and departure in 2017, Paul acknowledged the unfinished business. "It's wild that you get this opportunity again after those two years and the success that we had," he stated, referring to his time with James Harden in Houston. "We definitely know we had unfinished business so we get a chance to see what's going on here." Paul further expressed his unwavering desire to return, saying, "I wanted to get back and play here by any means necessary. I didn't even care what the team looked like, I just wanted to be home, be here with the Clippers."

The 40-year-old, who averaged 8.8 points and 7.4 assists last season with the Spurs, expressed immense gratitude for still playing at his age. His leadership, court vision, and veteran presence are expected to be vital for a Clippers team with championship aspirations, especially playing alongside stars like Kawhi Leonard and the newly re-signed James Harden. The press conference solidified a true homecoming, with Paul expressing, "This will always be special to me."
