According to USA Today, WWE Icon and Hall of Famer, Hulk Hogan, whose real name is Terry Bollea, died on July 24th after suffering from cardiac arrest. In a Facebook post by the Clearwater police department, officers arrived to the home of Mr. Bollea around 9:51 ET after a 911 call was made of the wrestler suffering from cardiac arrest. Hogan was rushed to the hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. He was 71 years old.

Hogan signed with the WWE in December 1983 and became one of the most iconic wrestlers and pop-culture icons in America. Hogan starred in several films such as No Holds Barred, Thunder in Paradise, and Rocky III

Lead actor of the Rocky Franchise, Sylvester Stallone, took to Instagram to remember his Rocky III co-star, stating, “He was absolutely wonderful and his amazing skill made Rocky three incredibly special. My heart breaks.”

Several of Hogan’s WWE colleagues took to social media to mourn his passing, including former WWE Chairman, Vince McMahon. After retiring from WWE in 2022, McMahon has been relatively quiet on social media as the former Chairman and WWE superstar has had a strong public relationship with Hulk Hogan.

McMahon has accredited Hogan for being one of the biggest WWE superstars, particularly in the 1980-90s as the Immortal holds the second most Wrestlemania main events in the company’s history. He is also the first wrestler to win two consecutive Royal Rumble matches (1990/1991).

WWE Hall of Famers such as The Undertaker and Ric Flair have sent out their own social media posts to mourn Hulk Hogan’s passing, including WWE’s official social media page. While Hogan is considered WWE’s first main attraction, it is no secret that the world’s biggest pro-wrestling company wouldn’t be where it is today without the success of the Immortal.
