Cole Swider shines and Bronny James makes California Classic debut as Lakers beat Heat

SAN FRANCISCO -- The Lakers' offense came alive today compared to their first game of California Classic play as they got their first win of the tournament against the Miami Heat, 103-83, Sunday afternoon. 

Cole Swider was yet again the leading scorer for Los Angeles as he scored 20 points on 7-10 shooting from the floor, with three rebounds in 27 minutes played. 

DJ Steward had himself a solid game as well, scoring 14 points on 6-9 shooting with three assists and two steals.

After not suiting up in the California Classic opener, Bronny James found himself in the starting lineup for game two. In 11 minutes played, he scored 10 points on 3-7 shooting, snagged two boards, and recorded a steal that he would take all the way home to the basket for a one-handed slam to begin the scoring for Los Angeles. 

The Lakers took control of the game from the starting tip, finishing the first half with a score of 51-38. The momentum for Los Angeles was starting to decline at the start of the third as the Heat were mounting a comeback. 

The comeback for Miami would not transpire as the Lakers had a proficient offensive quarter and quality defense the remainder of the game to secure their first win of California Classic Summer League Play. 

Los Angeles overall had a pretty good day on the court as the team had a field goal percentage of 57.1 and shot 33.3% from beyond the arc. The Lakers' defense was a factor in the win, as previously mentioned, with a combined total of 35 rebounds by the conclusion of the game, 9 of which were offensive rebounds. 

Los Angeles will play their last California Classic Summer League game against the San Antonio Spurs on July 8.
