Off the cusp of a historic weekend and yet another series win, the Los Angeles Dodgers welcome in the first-place Houston Astros for a three-game weekend series.
TEAM PREVIEW
Dodgers: The Los Angeles Dodgers (56-32), who are currently on a tear as of late, achieved their ninth win in ten games last night after completing the sweep of the Chicago White Sox.
MRI revealed some positive news regarding Max Muncy, who was helped off the field in Wednesday night's game after a collision at third base, as it showed no structural damage in his left knee. The Dodgers' third baseman is still expected to miss up to six weeks.
Three Dodgers will represent Los Angeles for the National League as starters in this year’s summer classic, as Will Smith will be the starting catcher, Freddie Freeman the starting first baseman, and Shohei Ohtani will start at the DH position.
Shohei Ohtani makes his fourth pitching appearance on Saturday.
Astros: The Houston Astros (52-35) are coming off a series win of their own, taking two of three from the Colorado Rockies, and sustaining their seven-game lead in the American League West.
Josh Hader and Hunter Brown lead the pitching cavalry for H-Town as they were named AL Pitcher and Reliever of the month for June, respectively. Hader, 31, is on another planet in terms of baseball relievers, as in 38.2 innings pitched in relief this year, he is 5-1 and a staggering ERA of 1.86. He is also credited with 59 strikeouts and a WHIP of 0.72.
Brown has solidified himself as the true Astros ace, posting a 9-3 record in 17 appearances for Houston. Along with that, the 26-year-old is posting a 1.82 ERA in 104 innings.
