The Las Vegas Aces squandered a nine-point halftime lead against the Minnesota Lynx in a 76-62 loss on Tuesday, suffering their second consecutive loss as A’ja Wilson still works through concussion protocol.

The Aces were outscored 46-23 in the second half, effectively erasing what was arguably the team’s most impressive collective performance in a first half this season. The Aces led by as many as 14 points in the second quarter and eventually trailed by as many as 16 points in the fourth quarter.

Las Vegas had eight players score at least five points in the first half, but only Jewel Loyd and Tiffany Mitchell finished in double-figures. Loyd’s 12 points on 4-of-12 shooting led the team, while Mitchell added 10 points on 5-of-6 shooting in her second start with the organization. Loyd’s scoring total is the lowest for an Aces’ leading scorer in a single game since Kelsey Plum also scored 12 points against the Minnesota Lynx on June 3, 2022.

Minnesota Lynx superstar and early MVP frontrunner Napheesa Collier left the game near the conclusion of the first half with a back injury and was ruled out for the remainder of the contest at halftime. Minnesota’s second-half effort without her was encouraging, which meant precisely the opposite for the Aces’ effort once she was ruled out.

Courtney Williams led the Lynx with 20 points on 8-of-23 shooting, while Diamond Miller (4-of-5 shooting) and Natasha Hiedeman (5-of-12 shooting) added 12 points each off the bench. Miller and Hiedeman accounted for the entirety of Minnesota’s bench production and the Lynx still managed to outscore the Aces 24-15 off the bench.m

The Lynx made 29 of 76 attempts (38.2 percent) from the field overall, shooting 5 of 23 (21.7 percent) from beyond the arc. The Aces shot 23-of-64 (35.9 percent) from the field, making 9-of-24 shots (37.5 percent) from 3-point range. The Lynx outscored the Aces 13-2 in fastbreak points and 40-20 in points in the paint, in addition to forcing 21 Las Vegas turnovers while conceding just 10.
