LAS VEGAS — Boxing superstars Saul “Canelo” Álvarez and Terence Crawford will face off in a highly anticipated unified super middleweight title bout on Saturday, Sept. 13, in Las Vegas, officials announced Monday.
The blockbuster matchup, part of Riyadh Season, will stream live globally on Netflix at no additional cost to its more than 300 million subscribers. The event marks a groundbreaking collaboration between Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority Chairman Turki Alalshikh, UFC President Dana White, and sports entertainment company Sela.
“Canelo and Crawford, two legends of boxing, will finally compete against each other in the fight of the century,” Alalshikh said. “Alongside Dana White and Sela, we will deliver something truly incredible in Las Vegas.”
Álvarez (62-2-2, 39 KOs), one of boxing’s biggest global stars, will defend his super middleweight titles against the undefeated Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs), a three-division world champion widely regarded as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters of his era.
The fight will be promoted with a three-city international press tour, beginning June 20 in Riyadh at Baker Alshidy Theatre in Blvd City, followed by stops at Fanatics Fest in New York on June 22 and the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on June 27.
“Are you kidding me that the first boxing fight I’m going to get to promote is Canelo vs. Crawford?” White said. “It’s literally a once-in-a-lifetime fight.”
Álvarez called the matchup another historic moment in his career.
“I’m ready to show once again that I am the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world,” he said.
Crawford, confident in maintaining his perfect record, said, “No matter the opponent or weight class, I have always come out on top. On September 13, my hand will be raised once again as the world watches greatness.”
