LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers win another game via the comeback, marking their MLB-leading 21st victory in come-from-behind fashion, which came from the unlikely bat of Michael Conforto, who hit a go-ahead RBI single in the eighth to secure a 6-5 victory over the New York Mets. Will Smith contributed once again with runners on base, going 2-for-4 with two RBIs. This win splits the four-game series and establishes an overall homestand record of 4-3.
The Mets tacked on runs early against Dodgers starter Landon Knack as the red-hot Pete Alonso launched his 15th long ball of the season in the second. This was the Polar Bears' 10th home run in 20 games played at Dodger Stadium.

New York would tack on more offensively in the third, which began with a lead-off home run from Brandon Nimmo, his 10th of the season. Starling Marte followed suit with a solo shot of his own as the Mets would go back-to-back with still no outs in the inning.

Later on in the inning, with just one out, Knack had the bases loaded and Brett Baty up at the plate, who provided greatly with a sacrifice fly that allowed Alonso to score from third, and the Mets had a quick 4-0 lead.
Mookie Betts catapulted the offense for Los Angeles with an RBI double in the Dodgers' bottom half of the third, and the best hitter with RISP in Smith found a hole in left field and drove in an RBI to cut the lead to 4-2. Teoscar Hernández would follow suit by grounding into a force out, and the lead inched closer.

The offense on both sides had crickets chirping until the top of the eighth, as once again, Alonso would drive in a much-needed insurance run for New York via an RBI single to extend their lead 5-3. Smith had something to say about that, as after the lead-off walk given up by Reed Garrett to Betts, Smith smacked an RBI double to left.
A traffic jam was induced at home plate after Andy Pages hit into a fielder's choice that involved Garret, Smith, and Mets catcher Francisco Alvarez. Smith was caught in a rundown, but a bad throw at the plate and a bobble at home allowed Smith to score and tie this contest at five.

With runners on first and second and two outs, up came Conforto, who came up first pitch swinging as he caught a cutter up in the zone for an opposite field hit, and finally let out a sigh of relief as the Dodgers had their first lead of the game. Tanner Scott shut the door in the ninth for his 11th save of the season as Los Angeles splits the series and climbs out of these two New York series with an above .500 record.
