BOSTON -- On the back of a first-inning explosion, the Los Angeles Angels hung on to defeat the Boston Red Sox, 7-6, on Monday evening at Fenway Park. With the victory, the Angels moved to 27-32 and 17-17 on the road, ending a two-game losing streak.
It was a historic night for Los Angeles as they became the first visiting team in Fenway Park history to hit three home runs in the first inning. Zach Neto, Mike Trout and Jo Adell each launched homers to boost the Halos in front 6-0 against Boston starter Richard Fitts.
Trout, who finished 3-4 in the contest, launched his three-run shot 454 feet as it soared deep into the night to put the Angels up 5-0 before a single out had been recorded.

The three-time MVP has been red-hot since returning to action on May 30 and is now 8-14 since with five RBI.
Neto got Los Angeles off to the right start as the first batter of the game, launching his 10th home run. It was already the fifth leadoff blast of the season for the shortstop, who continues to provide a spark at the top of the lineup.

Adell blasted the third homer of the frame off of Fitts, his first of two on the evening. Fitts lasted only the opening inning on Monday as he conceded the three early home runs and four hits total, falling to 0-3.
Boston did not go down quietly, taking advantage of struggles from Los Angeles starter Tyler Anderson to climb back into the contest. Anderson allowed seven hits and five runs total across 4 1/3 innings, including a four-run fifth that made it a 6-5 ballgame.
Carlos Narvaez drilled a one-run double down the left field line that knocked Anderson out of the contest and brought in Hunter Strickland. The right-hander immediately conceded two more runs on a double from Romy Gonzalez, this time down the right field line.
In the top of the sixth, Adell punched back with his second solo home run of the night, clearing the green monster once again to make it a 7-5 game. It was the first multi-home run game of the season for the 26-year-old, who has now driven in six over his last six.

Following the shaky outing from Anderson and the double conceded by Strickland, the Los Angeles bullpen managed to settle things down and put a lid on the Boston rally. Reid Detmers and Ryan Zeferjahn each tossed scoreless frames to get the Angels through the sixth and seventh, with Zeferjahn earning his third victory of the season in the process.
Hector Neris allowed a solo home run to Ceddanne Rafaela that opened the bottom of the eighth for the Red Sox, making it a 7-6 game. However, he fought back to retire the next three hitters he saw and keep the lead intact.
The ball went to Kenley Jansen in the ninth as he worked a 1-2-3 frame to secure the victory. Jansen is now 12/12 in save opportunities this season and needed just ten pitches on Monday night to get the job done.
Following a wild series opening win, Los Angeles and Boston will meet again on Tuesday afternoon for game two of the series. Left-hander Yusei Kikuchi (1-5, 3.06 ERA) will make his 13th start of the season for the Angels against Red Sox right-hander Bryan Bello (2-1, 3.83 ERA).
First pitch is scheduled for 4:10 p.m. P.T.
