Golden Knights look to avoid 3-0 series deficit as they play the Oilers taken in Las Vegas (Vegas Golden Knights)

May 8, 2025; Las Vegas, Nevada, USA; Vegas Golden Knights right wing Victor Olofsson (95) celebrates after scoring a goal against the Edmonton Oilers during the first period of game two of the second round of the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs at T-Mobile Arena.

The Vegas Golden Knights are on the ropes as the NHL playoffs continue. The series moves to Edmonton with the Oilers in a 2-0 lead, and with 2 games in Edmonton coming up, the Golden Knights will look to avoid going down 3-0, as they play on Saturday night.

Golden Knights head coach Bruce Cassidy mentioned the lack of depth coming off the bench and contributing to scoring during the game on Thursday night, stating, "They've got to do their part, "You look around the room, we probably need a couple of guys in the room to elevate as well, right? We'd love somebody to have a Mikko Rantanen-ish type of game of course. But we're not keeping our fingers crossed. That would be great if it happened. I said a couple of guys may feel like they can give a little more.

Game Notes

Only four teams in NHL history have gone on to win the series after going down 3-0.

Edmonton has gone behind at some point in all six of their wins so far in the playoffs.

The Golden Knights last time down 2-0 in a second round in a playoff series was against the Avalanche in 2021; they then went on to win four straight games to win the series 4-2.

Golden Knights' last time out

Vegas lost in overtime 5-4, as Leon Draisaitl scored the winning goal to send them back to Edmonton in a comfortable 2-0 position and now hold home ice advantage as they have won the last two games away from home. Darnell Nurse would give Edmonton a 3-1 lead before William Karlsson would pull one back heading into the third period
