Apr 2, 2025; Los Angeles, California, USA; Los Angeles Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani (17) rounds the bases after hitting a walk off solo home run against the Atlanta Braves during the ninth inning at Dodger Stadium.

LOS ANGELES -- It's fitting that on Shohei Ohtani's bobblehead night, Ohtani himself would light the fireworks by hitting a walk-off home run that overcame a five-run deficit, completing the sweep against the Atlanta Braves with a final score of 6-5. With this 8-0 start, the Dodgers have achieved the best start for any team following a World Series title.

The Braves began their scoring bid early when a short throw from Max Muncy at third was mishandled by Kike Hernandez, allowing Marcell Ozuna to score from third. Nick Allen then followed with an RBI double, quickly putting two runs on the board. In the top half of the second inning, Ozzie Albies doubled in Stuart Fairchild, and a couple of batters later, Matt Olson delivered his own RBI double over the head of Michael Conforto with the bases loaded, extending the lead to a commanding 5-0 lead.

Tommy Tanks would resurrect once again and come up big as he blasted a two-run shot to deep center field in the second, his fourth of the season, to cut the deficit by three. Michael Conforto made a big splash in the fourth as he contributed to the offense with his first Dodgers home run to cut the lead to 5-3.

The torpedo bat Muncy had used for his first two at-bats wasn't working, so he reverted to his regular bat before his turn at the plate and had a clutch at-bat by delivering a two-run double that tied the game at 5-5.

The "sho" continues in Los Angeles as Ohtani delivered a walk-off homer to cap off the comeback for the Dodgers to complete the sweep of the Atlanta Braves and improve to a recording-breaking 8-0 start for a defending World Series champion. The quest for 162-0 is still in the works for the Boys in Blue as they look to continue on this undefeated journey on Friday as they begin their first road trip of the season and travel to Philadelphia for three games, followed by three games in Washington.
