The highly anticipated F1 75 Live Event took place last Wednesday at the 02 arena in London. It was one heck of a show as for the first time ever, all of the Formula One teams came together to present their new liveries and answer questions in front of the packed crowd. The show consisted of multiple musical performances, driver and team interviews, and host Jack Whitehall entertained the crowd with his comedic presence. At one point during the show we received an exclusive behind the scenes video of the upcoming "F1" movie and it looked amazing. The advanced technology and attention to detail that was mentioned about the movie was mind blowing. Let’s take a look and point out some key aspects about the video that will make "F1" stand out from other racing films.
CAMERA WORK
The first aspect of the movie that caught my attention was the camera work. In the video, director Joseph Kosinski mentions how intricate the camera system is when he says "The camera technology we developed for "Maverick" was groundbreaking. On "F1," we've pushed it even further." With the main goal of capturing the tremendous speeds of Formula One cars, the production crew has put multiple cameras on the cars used in the movie. They have even utilized helicopters in order bring the film to life. In the video we saw cameras inside of the cockpit which revealed the intense forces that the drivers will be fighting against. They have even attached cameras onto Brad Pitt's helmet so that we can catch a glimpse of the driver's point of view. With all of these advanced equipment options and shot choices, the movie is looking to be a must watch for not just F1 fans, but for all those who enjoy amazing cinematography.
AUTHENTICITY
"The "F1" movie is as authentic a racing movie has ever been"-- Seven Time Driver World Champion Lewis Hamilton.
Director Joseph Kosinski has made it crystal clear that the authenticity of the film needs to be second to none. Having Lewis Hamilton as a producer has enhanced this film to another level. With the production crew having full access to tracks such as Great Britain, Spa, Monza, and Vegas just to name a few along with a real driver who wants to make this movie as close to a real racing movie as possible, the potential is on another level. In the video it also showed how the crew had their own garage and F2 cars for the film which adds another level of realism. It's crazy to think how Brad Pitt and Damson Idris, the two main characters of the film, had the opportunity and task to get behind the wheel of a real F2 car and drive it on the race track.
ACTION PACKED RACING
The final aspect of the movie that I loved seeing from the video was the plethora of action scenes. The wheel to wheel racing shots between Brad and Damson looked breath taking as it looked like they were really going 200 MPH. The collision scenes looked incredibly well done as the intensity of the moment and the adrenaline rush in the actors facial expressions revealed another layer of authenticity that we adore in racing movies. I can only imagine how amazing it will be to go to a theater and see these amazing images on screen with the natural sounds of racing echoing through the whole theatre.
