The Los Angeles Kings ended their scoring drought by defeating the Carolina Hurricanes by a score of 4-2.

It was a great game from winger Kevin Fiala, who had two goals on the day. His first goal of the night, which would ultimately be the game-winning goal, came at the end of the second period. After a loose puck popped out into the Hurricanes’ defensive zone, Fiala swung around the outside of one defender before cutting through the middle of the ice and out-waiting Carolina goaltender Frederik Anderson to put Los Angeles up 3-1.

His other goal came during the middle of the third period. After swooping in to snag a loose puck along his bench, Fiala went one-on-one, cutting to the outside before letting a wrist shot fly into the top-right corner of the goal to put the Kings up 4-2 with nine minutes remaining.

Now the second-line center, Phillip Danault had an unassisted goal of his own which ended the scoring drought for Los Angeles which lasted just about 180 minutes. Carolina defender Dmitry Orlov fell behind the cage, launching the puck to the middle of the ice right where Danault could one-time it past Anderson to tie the game 1-1.

Winger Trevor Moore also joined in on the action, scoring a minute into the second period. Rounding the cage, Danault fed Moore in front, who had two whacks at the puck before it finally crossed the line, giving Los Angeles the lead 2-1.

The first goal of the night, however, would come from Hurricanes’ center Jesperi Kotkaniemi. On a quick play, Carolina moved the puck from point to point before defender Sean Walker took a shot that was deflected in front by Kotkaniemi to put the Hurricanes up 1-0 with four minutes to go in the first period.

Their second goal would come by breakaway courtesy of winger Eric Robinson on a full-ice stretch pass from former San Jose Shark Brett Burns.

Despite the two goals against, Los Angeles goaltender Darcy Kuemper had a very solid game finishing with 26 saves on 28 shots.

After breaking the losing streak, the Kings will come back home before playing the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
