Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards (5) takes a shot at an NBA basketball game against the Los Angeles Clippers, Wednesday December 4th, 2024 in Inglewood, California.

INGLEWOOD, Calif. - It was bound to come to an end at some point. The Clippers were trounced by the Timberwolves, to end their 9 game home winning streak.

It was a disaster from the start, as the Timberwolves went on a 24-4 run to end the first quarter with a 41-17 lead. It seemed like everything the Clippers threw at the rim came out, as they shot only 23% from the field in that quarter alone.

You can go down the list of players on both sides, but James Harden, who has been the main cog of the offense, was held to 2 points at the half.

With the way the schedule has gone so far, this is not a surprise at all. The Clippers have played the most games of anyone in the Western Conference and have not had one instance of having multiple days off in between matchups.

Of course, the Clippers are going to have plenty of time off now, playing only three games in a span of two weeks, but the legs looked tired and the play showed it.

The team as a whole shot 35% from the field and 28% from 3-point range. Bad defense, bad offense, and just unenergetic play. It was to be expected.

If there are any silver linings, Bones Hyland had a season high 18 points including 5/10 from 3-point range. Many of the San Diego Clipper two way players got some extended run on Wednesday night, as Trentyn Flowers scored 9 points and Cam Christie scored 5 points in 18 minutes.

As Ty Lue said after the game, β€œUnlike Michael Malone, I’m going to flush it.”

This team needs a break, needs some time off and needs a reset, especially going up against a contending Houston Rockets team on Sunday night. Tipoff is set for 6:00 PM PST.
