JuJu Watkins reaches 1,000 career points in win vs. Santa Clara taken at Galen Center (USC)

LOS ANGELES — JuJu Watkins scored 22 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists, and Kiki Iriafen scored 20 points to lift USC (4-0) to an 81-50 nonconference victory Friday over Santa Clara (2-1) before 3,594 at Galen Center.

Watkins became the fastest USC Trojan to score 1,000 career points. She completed the career mark in 38 games.  

USC never trailed versus Santa Clara. USC's defense led the fight, forcing 22 Broncos' turnovers. The Trojans scored 31 points off turnovers.

At halftime, USC led 39-26.

USC's struggles from beyond the arch continued as the Trojans converted 21 percent from three-point range. Yet, the Trojans' size outmatched the Broncos', scoring 46 paint points.

Trojans' Rayah Marshall had 12 points. Kennedy Smiht scored 9 points and 5 steals. 

Broncos' Olivia Pollerd scored 12 points, and Kaya Ingram scored 13 points off the bench.
