LOS ANGELES — JuJu Watkins scored 21 points, 8 assists, and 5 steals, and Kiki Iriafen scored 15 points to lift USC (3-0) to a 124-39 nonconference victory Tuesday over Cal State Northridge (2-1) before 3,064 at Galen Center.
The Women of Troy’s 124 points is a program record for most points in a single game. In the second quarter, USC went on a 37-0 run, holding the Matador scoreless for ten straight minutes.
USC found its groove from three-point land, shooting 47 percent from beyond the arch. The Trojans moved the ball efficiently, dishing a season-high 28 assists.
USC led 60-13 at halftime
The Trojans forced 43 turnovers and scored 63 points off the Matador’s miscues. Cal State Northridge shot 29 percent from the field on 74 attempts.
For a second straight game, USC had six players in double figures, three of whom are freshmen: Kayleigh Heckel, Avery Howell, and Kennedy Smith.
USC’s Kayleigh Heckel scored 14 points off the bench. Talia Von Oelhoffen had 13 points. Avery Howell had 11 points and 5 rebounds.
Matador’s Laini Dahlin scored 11 points and Erika Aspajo scored 10 points off the bench.
