Betts, Hernandez and Ohtani win Silver Slugger awards in 2024 taken in Los Angeles (Los Angeles Dodgers)

LOS ANGELES - Major League Baseball announced the winners of the Silver Slugger Awards, with Shohei Ohtani, Teoscar Hernandez and Mookie Betts winning the awards in the National League for their respective positions.

Betts has won his seventh award, while Hernandez and Ohtani have each received their third career award. With three Dodgers winning the honor in one year, this sets a new record for the team.

Betts has received his fourth Silver Slugger Award with the Dodgers, making it the second most in the team's history. Mike Piazza holds the record for the most Dodger Silver Slugger Awards with five. Betts has previously won this award as a member of the Boston Red Sox in 2016, 2018, and 2019.

In 2024, Betts had a total of 450 at-bats, achieving a batting average of .289. He hit 19 home runs and recorded 75 runs batted in (RBIs). His slugging percentage was .491, and he finished the season with an on-base plus slugging (OPS) of .897. Throughout the year, Betts started 61 games at shortstop, 42 games in right field and 12 games at second base.

This was Ohtani's first season with the Dodgers after spending six years with the Angels, during which he won two Silver Slugger awards in 2021 and 2023.

Ohtani had a remarkable season, becoming the first-ever player to join the 50-50 club with 54 home runs and 59 stolen bases. He also added 130 RBIs, a slugging percentage of .646, and an OPS of 1.036.

Ohtani is a contender for the NL MVP award along with Ketel Marte from the Arizona Diamondbacks and Francisco Lindor from the New York Mets. The award will be announced later this week.

Although Ohtani and Betts are both under contract for the next decade, Hernandez remains a free agent after spending his first year with the Dodgers, where he won the Home Run Derby and his first World Series Championship.

Hernandez won his previous two awards while playing for the Toronto Blue Jays in 2020 and 2021. In his first year with the team, he achieved a career-high of 33 home runs. By winning the award, Hernandez earned a one million dollar incentive bonus from the Dodgers.

Hernandez played 154 games for the Dodgers, batting .272 with 99 RBIs and 12 stolen bases. He led all NL outfielders in home runs, RBIs, and slugging percentage (.501).
