LOS ANGELES -- The Los Angeles Rams training camp opened up on Tuesday hosted at Loyola Marymount University for the first time in team history. Matthew Stafford and the team were able to finalize his new contract just in time for the start of camp. The details of the contract were not fully disclosed, but it was confirmed that no additional years were added to his contract.

Veteran tight end Tyler Higbee started on the PUP list. With his designation, the tight end group has been making the most of the opportunity to get more reps. On the first day of practice, both Davis Allen and Colby Parkinson caught touchdowns, showcasing their potential and hinting at a competitive season ahead.

Steve Avila is settling nicely into the center position, providing stability and confidence to the offensive line. His seamless transition from guard to center is crucial for the team's success. Meanwhile, the chemistry between Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp is evident. Their offseason workouts and bonding are paying off, with Kupp jokingly saying in today's press conference, "I can't get rid of him." This camaraderie bodes well for the Rams' offensive cohesion.

Head Coach Sean McVay couldn't contain his excitement about the defense's progress. Kamren Curl had a near interception, reflecting the unit's sharpness and anticipation. McVay highlighted Tre White and Tredavious Williams, praising their development and impact on the field. The defense's evolution is a promising sign for the upcoming season.

Defensive back Darious Williams appeared to injure his hamstring on the final play of Tuesday's practice. McVay announced that Derion Kendrick will undergo surgery in a few weeks after tearing his ACL during practice. With the Rams down a starting cornerback, Josh Wallace, an undrafted free agent out of Michigan McVay identified him as one of the players he would like to see step up. The injury has also prompted McVay to consider bringing back Ahkello Witherspoon, a current free agent, to add depth at the cornerback position.

Through the first two days of the Rams' practice, McVay has emphasized the importance of urgency and efficiency. The team's blend of emerging talent and seasoned veterans sets a hopeful tone for the season ahead.
