Smith's 11th-inning single walks off win, Jansen blows save taken Dodger Stadium (Los Angeles Dodgers)

LOS ANGELES — Will Smith hit a bases-loaded single in the 11th inning, lifting the Dodgers and their renewed offense to a 7-6 victory over the Boston Red Sox on Saturday at Dodger Stadium.

The Dodgers wouldn't have reached the 11th inning if it weren't for Kiké Hernandez's clutch hitting in the bottom of the ninth. He hit a game-tying home run against his former teammate, Red Sox closer Kenley Jansen, forcing extra innings.

Hernandez also delivered in the 10th inning, hitting a game-tying RBI single to center and forcing another inning.

Hernandez said his family and friends deserve credit for his success Saturday. He said his wife, parents, and sisters put together a tribute video with old friends and teammates, which boosted his confidence as he faced his former team.

“I’m just really glad that this happened and I was able to come through,” Hernandez said. “I haven’t really been able to come through that much this year.”

Tyler O'Neil hit two home runs off the Dodgers bullpen. One came in the top of the seventh, and the other came in the 10th inning off Evan Phillips. O'Neil went 2 for 5 with four RBIs.

In his third career game, Justin Wrobleski pitched a shutout through the first 4 1/3 innings with 83 pitches. However, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts pulled him and Yohan Ramirez came in, resulting in a messy situation for the bullpen.

Roberts said he felt Wrobleski didn't have enough to get out of the fifth inning.

"It was a good series win for us," Roberts said. "Now we gotta go out there, we got (James) Paxton going tomorrow and we gotta get greedy."

Smith was 0 for 5 prior to his walk-off hit.

“There was a lot of back and forth, homers, clutch hits," Smith said. "It was a fun one to be part of.

“I wish we could have closed it out a little earlier.”

The Dodgers had multiple opportunities to close out the game, going 4 for 13 with runners in scoring position.

Boston starter Bryan Bello gave up three runs on five hits and struck out seven in six innings. Bello was rolling through the game despite giving up a solo home run to Gavin Lux in the second inning, his fourth of the season.

Joe Kelly returned to the mound in the sixth inning and delivered a scoreless outing. However, Anthony Banda struggled, allowing a two-run homer to O'Neil.

Brent Honeywell pitched two scoreless innings late in the game for the Dodgers, helping them stay within one run heading into the ninth. Blake Treinen (3-2) earned the victory with an outstanding performance on the mound, escaping the 11th with 20 pitches.

The Dodgers will be aiming for a series sweep Sunday. Boston right-hander Kutter Crawford (6-7, 3.04 ERA) will face Dodgers left-hander Paxton (7-2, 4.38 ERA).

Starting pitching has been a concern recently, but help is on the way. Tyler Glasnow will start Wednesday against the Giants and Clayton Kershaw will make his season debut Thursday.

Bobby Miller continued his rehab Saturday night in Triple-A Oklahoma City, pitching five scoreless innings with four hits and four walks on 80 pitches. Roberts didn't provide an updated timeline for Miller's return.
