CENTENNIAL, Colo. — Angel City Football Club overcame an early two-goal deficit to defeat the Denver Summit 3-2 on the road Saturday night at Centennial Stadium.
Sveindis Jónsdóttir, Taylor Suarez and Ally Sentnor put Angel City ahead in a 17-minute span with three unanswered goals.
"I love this team. We never give up and we played with our hearts today,” said Jónsdóttir.
Denver Summit got an early start when Melissa Kössler scored off a loose corner kick in the 2nd minute. 16 minutes later, Lindsey Heaps doubled the lead with a half-volley.
But Angel City was able to respond and maintain momentum in the later part of the first half.
Jónsdóttir found the net in the 32nd minute, thanks to a cross from Evelyn Shores into the box.

Saturday’s win extended ACFC’s unbeaten streak to eight games and propelled the club into 5th place with 43 points. The Los Angeles side now sits four points off the playoff line.
"We need to win our next two games. We want to get as high as we can. We're just looking up,” said Jónsdóttir, “We don't know what's below us, so we want to win those last two games and try to get that home game for playoffs.”
Angel City will return to Los Angeles for its final two games of the regular season. The first will be at BMO Stadium against Bay FC (7-5-15, 26pts.) on October 24. ACFC will then head to Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson for its Celebración de Culturas against Boston Legacy FC (9-4-15, 32pts.) on Sunday, November 1st.
“We can't wait to play our last two games in front of our home crowd," said Jónsdóttir.
